Amarie and Jeff chose Lake Tahoe for Amarie's maternity pictures. Speedboat is a small neighborhood beach with stunning boulders and crystal clear water. This was the perfect location to begin documenting Benaiah's story. They both are patiently waiting for little Benaiah to arrive and there's no doubt this little human is (already) loved SO much. They brought a box filled with adorable toys-they even had matching hats for the whole family. I don't think September can come fast enough. I really appreciated that Jeff gave Amarie the opportunity to shine. This was the perfect opportunity to showcase her beautiful (seriously perfect) belly and motherly glow. It's such a privilege to document this portion of their story and I feel so honored to be chosen to document his birth in September (ah)! I'm beyond stoked to do this.
We can't wait to meet you Benaiah...you're being welcomed with so much love.
I've been waiting a long time to document a birth, so I'm really excited for September to arrive. Thanks Amarie and Jeff for choosing me to document this chapter. I've had the privilege of doing a Fresh 48 (which are so incredibly special and beautiful), however documenting the emotions experienced as these parents hold Benaiah for the very first time...that will be like nothing else.
I've also had a couple of photographers (with experience documenting birth sessions) that have gone out of their way to provide support and tips on how to document a birth. Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to do this, you all rock!
Now, let's talk about the pictures! The tones and colors were inspired by the recent sunsets we've had. Pink and golden hues with hints of the cool blue tones in the water were used to highlight this session. I wanted to keep a romantic energy between Amarie and Jeff and for Amarie's personal portraits...I included a lot of open landscapes to show off her perfect little belly.
