Camera Bodies

  • Nikon Z6II - I own three of these cameras and thoroughly enjoy shooting with them. Nikon has released a few models since I purchased this one, but I haven’t found the need to update. I even facilitated a class recently that focused on the newer models, so I’m very aware of the new changes. That being said, this is more than enough for what you’ll need as a portrait and event photographer. Also, I've found Nikon's capability in preserving highlights in images particularly beneficial, especially when capturing scenes at Lake Tahoe, where the bright background can be challenging during the day. To manage my photography workflow effectively, I use dual memory cards: a reliable SanDisk Extreme PRO for the primary slot (I have like 50 of these) and for the secondary slot I use these.

  • Holga 120 - This is my camera toy! It’s a 120mm film camera. I like to use Kodak 120 Portra 400 film for it. I use it for funky/artsy shots.

  • I do have a Nikon film camera, but I can't specify the exact model I use. However, I recommend having two film cameras—one dedicated to shooting color and the other loaded with b&w film. This setup offers versatility and ensures I'm prepared for various shooting scenarios.

  • I use a Spider Holster to carry two cameras at a time.

Lenses

  • 85mm f/1.2: This lens is truly magical. It's practically glued to my side throughout a wedding day; its performance is unmatched.

  • 24-70mm f/2.8: If I had to rely on just one lens for an entire day of shooting, this would undoubtedly be my top choice.

  • 35mm f/1.4: I use the Sigma art version because Nikon has not released their 35mm 1.2 yet. So make sure you purchase an adapter as well.

  • 40 mm f/2: This lens is ideal for those times when I need to travel light.

  • 70-200mm f/2.8: This lens occasionally makes its grand appearance during ceremonies.

  • I use Zeiss Lens Wipes to clean my lens.

Lighting

  • Video light: This is great for when I need a quick and easy lighting set-up.

  • Flash: I always have a couple of these in my bag at weddings.

  • Stand: This stand I specifically have for off-camera flash setups.

  • These are my go-to diffusers for my flashes

    • MagMod Sphere- This link provides a starter kit, with the option to enhance it further by adding other diffusers, like the MagBounce.

Other

  • Backpack : I rely on this pack to efficiently carry all my gear, when I’m packing light or shooting engagement sessions and elopements. On wedding days, it becomes indispensable for carrying extra equipment.

  • Hard Case: One of the standout features of this camera case is its carry-on size, which means I can conveniently bring along all my essentials when I travel.

Programs

  • HONEYBOOK!! I could NOT run my business without this tool to keep my contracts, payments, and emails organized.

  • Pic-Time: This is where I store and deliver galleries.
