Edgewood Tahoe Wedding | Malik and Kathrina

When the Philippines meets Palestine in Lake Tahoe

I absolutely adore Kathrina and Malik! Their "when the Philippines meets Palestine in Lake Tahoe" wedding was a grand celebration filled with fun entertainment, delicious food, and thoughtful details. Seeing how much love and respect they have for each other was beautiful, and it’s no surprise that pours over into so many other aspects of their life. They have a close tribe that loves them so much.

Also, Lake Tahoe is one of Kathrina and Malik's favorite spots. They love the lake and the mountains and knew Edgewood would be the perfect spot to celebrate their commitment. They wanted to capture the beauty of Tahoe and all the new memories they would be making with their friends and family.

The weekend celebration began with a rehearsal dinner Friday night…

The Wedding Day

Any advice to couples planning their wedding: “Cherish the process because it really does go by quickly. If you are planning to DIY anything, start early to avoid unnecessary stress. Hire a planner, they take off so much weight off your shoulders with all aspects of wedding planning. Melissa from Beau and Arrow is the best! Try to get you and your significant other to be involved with the planning as much as possible because it makes seeing the final product much more meaningful to both of you. Lastly, include parts of your culture(s) to your ceremony and reception. It represents where both families come from and blending the two unions.”

Kat’s fave moment was exchanging our vows. It was emotional between the two of us and I could also feel everyone’s emotions in the room.

Malik’s fave moment was the zaffa drummers and dancing. It brought an ecstatic vibe to our reception.

Fun Facts:

  • We met in college and we've been together all of our 20s.

  • We enjoy traveling to different countries and trying out the local foods.

  • We love going to Lake Tahoe all year round.

  • We snowboard in the winter and hang out by the lake in the summer.

So what does the future hold for them?! "We’re excited to be able to travel more in the future and start a family.”

After the wedding they went to Athens, Santorini, and Paris! “It was our first European trip and we are definitely going back. We loved the history in Athens, the beautiful landscapes of Santorini and the architecture and vibes of Paris. One common thing from all of the destinations is that the food was DELICIOUS. From trying every gyro and drinking cappuccino freddos in Santorini to endless pain au chocolat and cheesy onion soups in Paris, we definitely indulged. We will for sure plan another European trip in the future.”

“Life will throw many challenges between the two of you (whether it be during wedding planning or any time in your relationship), but what matters most is that you two respect and care for each other and that you are doing it together.”
